Natalie Austen is a 21 year old university student with little drive or direction in life. She maintains a cynical attitude towards things, until she finds a chair in a park and is uprooted, about to view things from a whole new perspective.

32 year old Clive Kipling has been traveling via his airship, the Nautilus, for some years now. Perhaps keeping airborn has aided what appears to be a perpetually chipper demeanor, or perhaps there is more to Kipling’s happiness than meets the eye.

Regina, having spent 8 years with Kipling, would arguably be more cynical than Natalie, if she were not a cat. Fortunately, she is, and therefore accepts all kinds of magical things humans don’t. Despite lacking hands, Regina might be one of the few things keeping the Nautilus off the ground.

Connor Kingstead is up to something, which is probably normally the case for him. The only problem is what and why. And although he is a small and thin and oddly fearful sort of man, he has a sort of dangerous air about him…
