If Your Life Needs Rearranging
I took a walk this afternoon (Saturday) and it was one of the most glorious experiences I’ve had in awhile. This city is perfect because it’s not just a city. There are beautiful neighborhoods all over, and the space between Uptown and the apartment is really beautiful on a sunny afternoon. Occasionally you will hit a main street, where there are restaurants or shops or something, and people are all over, eating and conversing. In between are massive pockets of beautiful old houses, most too big or expensive for individuals to own, so they’re rented to several. There are weird little gardens everywhere; some look like magazine models, some look like the gardens run themselves, but they’re all beautiful.
Aside from those things, I have to say that taking a long walk is recommended for all that ails you : ). If you can do it alone, even better. Unless it’s not safe. Then please go with somebody. But there is something about that time where you have nothing to concern yourself with other than focusing your mind and body and soul on working together as best they can. It’s not strenuous but it requires a lot of energy. By the end, though, somehow, you’re ten times more energetic than when you began.
This weeks vote incentive (that will be this coming Tuesday, Sept 29) is another sketch from awhile ago of Kipling’s room, as well as the tiniest (first ever!) doodle of the Nautilus. It’s even more stylized than usual. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve got plenty of images that I think would be interesting incentives, but every once and awhile, when I have the time, I’ll make some new stuff too : ).

I have always enjoyed taking walks. The area I used to live was next to a major university found in the later half of the 1800s. So many of the homes in the neighborhood around it come from late 1800s to early 1900s. The ones that are kept up and not turn into rent out to as many college students as can be are very beautiful. It was always a pleasure to walk to the grocery store taking the side streets to be among them. So I can understand very well how energizing such a walk can be.
Wow. You do that too? I do that a lot but recently I don’t go out that much. I know what you mean regarding on walking alone. I got robbed and punched in the face though. haha! Seriously. I’ve been walking alone almost half my life now maybe a little company would be nice. I wish I could walk with you. We don’t even have to talk. I’m good with that. :)
I have to go on a walk one of these days too… although it’s getting cold out now. I’m such a wimp, haha, guess where the idea for Alec’s weakness came from?
I need to re-think Looking Glass too, I’ve been on the verge of a few ideas but they keep escaping me. Maybe this would help.
There is a nice little park not too far away from me to take a walk… has a duck pond and everything. I usually take a walk there whenever possible. Unfortunately is has been all rain all the time this last week. =P
I like to go for a cycle into town, then just lock my bike somewhere, walk around and look at at all the old buildings. Highlights of living in an old Uni town.
I’m glad there are so many beautiful places! They’re good support for some ideas I have about the world and traveling and therefore are very pertinent to this comic ;).
