Eeep!

September 2nd, 2010

Yesterday’s page didn’t post, but for a reason I can’t remedy yet. My computer conked out on Monday. I should be able to get it working in a few days, and when that happens there’ll be a glut of pages to post. Ugh, sorry guys! I’m requesting even more patience of you!

Alaska and Clarification

August 31st, 2010

I presently have the privilege of visiting my friend and her family in Alaska! I’ll still be working on stuff and posting regularly, but the prep and travel day did aid in the neglect of posting yesterday’s page. Sorry about that!

Also, I’m happy and thankful for all of comments and readership for the Lamplighter! It’s an archetypical story. I like it quite a bit. I mentioned before, I love short stories. It was really satisfying making something from beginning to end and to actually finish a piece.
Oh! The gender of the kid is something that has been asked about a few times. She’s a girl. She’s got a pretty androgenous character design. Since the comic is wordless this never comes up, I can just tell you guys: her name is Willamena and the old man’s name is Boswell (I named them after my family’s cat and dog).

I also apologize for not being more active around the site. I love being a freelance designer for a living, but it makes balancing all of my fun side projects rather difficult. Unfortunately, my paid work has to be completed before I can get to things like this. The main purpose of all of my comics, illustrations, and sketches is to improve my storytelling skills. It’s kind of a selfish motivation to be sure : ). That said, all of you aid my drive to want to be better. You guys deserve the best, especially with your patience in my choppy attempts to improve.

The Next Adventure will be updating again on October 3rd (a Sunday), once the Lamplighter is finished, and then will continuing updating on Sundays from there on out. I know some really want to get back to that story, and it’s really frustrating that I’m doing this. I’m sorry for your frustration, and I hope the return of Natalie & Co. will ease some of that.

hot….

August 13th, 2010

Our corner of the country has been brutally hot n’ humid lately. It’ll let up any day now. Any day. Which of you guys got all of the good weather now?
My friend Roxy and I have been working diligently (between our jobs) on putting together the book that the Lamplighter is going to be a part of. A few people asked about its availability for purchase and such. I’ll let you guys know! We expect it to be finished before September, and though we’ve hit a few bumps in the process, I think we’ll still get it finished before September. There may be a round of “print, then revise again”, but we’ll see.
A few people have also asked about vote incentives, and if that’s going to be a thing again. Yes, there will be incentives again! I’ve got at least one Next Adventure related vote incentive planned before the end of the month. I would like to do more, but other projects and work have been persistent this chunk of the summer. Eventually I’ll get it down to the perfect project/work balance ; ).

EDIT: All right! So, there was going to be a new vote incentive, but I seem to be having some trouble with Top Web Comics. But I want to share the image anyway, so go to the gallery for a new picture: Natalie a la Bryan Lee O’Malley, in honor of all of this Scott Pilgrim that’s going around. Yeah, she looks something like Kim Pine.
